Friday 22nd around lunchtime, a Mink swam across Kingfisher Lodge pool (north of Drinkwater Park, east of where the River Irwell goes under the M60 north of Manchester.
Today's unusual sighting was a Mink, swimming close to the bank on the far side and catching a fish. Initially I wondered if it could be an otter, but a quick Google sorted that out.
And the latest surprise spot on the Irwell - a bat in the full sunshine! - wasn't expecting that - flitting around presumably catching insects but also taking several quick sips of water from the river
