Recently, two men were seen acting suspiciously at a site where there are breeding Long-eared Owls in Greater Manchester. They entered private woodland and started visibly looking for nests, before also looking on the ground for pellets. They left quickly when approached.
The two men were accompanied by a Pit Bull dog. One was around 40 years old, short and of a stocky build, with dark hair and a distinctive hair cut, with shaved sides. He was wearing dark combat jacket and trousers. The other man was 18-20 years old and thin build. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket and had a black rucksack.
There have been previous instances of young Owls seemingly disappearing from nests and this incident has been reported to the RSPB Investigations Team.
