RE: Refurbishment of Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 binoculars

Thanks John and Paul. I guess I can live without the rubber armour to be honest. The rubber eyepiece is more of an issue. I'll contact Zeiss and see what they say.

John is 100% correct in everything he says. It's also the best route that he suggests too. Go via Zeiss themselves. They do however have lots of spares still for very old bins. When I visited Zeiss in Wetzlar, Germany as part of work I saw that they have a residential property that they purchased just to keep old spares etc in!! So every chance that they will have the armour. All members can always ring us at Focalpoint or PM me for advice like this. That's why we are here and are sole sponsors of these forums :)

Surely the rubber armour dropping off is a bit more than wear and tear. However, I'll give the a try.

How long have you had them?

Thanks. In theory at least, they're supposed to have a lifetime warranty so you would think that they'd be able to provide some kind of service

Lifetime warranty is only for manufacturing faults not wear and tear. Try Zeiss see what they say ,I know a factor is always spare parts for anything older than about 10 years these days

I've got an old pair of Zeiss dialyt 7x42 which I love, and which actually I think are at least as good as my more modern Swarovski's. They're a bit battered, they need new rubber eye pieces and rubber armour and may need realigning. I'd like to get them sorted so that I can use them more often. Can anybody recommend any where I can send them for refurbishment and a little tlc? Cheers, Colin

You would only get that via Zeiss themselves ,but doupt that the rubber armour  is still available as the moulds will be long gone, and even the eyepiece for older models are no longer available. Different materials are used these days too and a lot of the old polyurethane that used to be used can no longer be replicated due to a lot of chemicals now being banned from use.
