RE: What to do about a dead heron?

Ok. Thank you for the response. We passed the same spot an hour ago and it's no longer there, I expect that either the farmer has dealt with it or a fox has dragged it off.

Thanks

If the plumage has not been corrupted or spoiled you might wish to ring the Manchester Museum (natural history) and ask if they would like to receive it. Unless there is something particularly sinister such as dead fish floating in the nearby river or pond I doubt it will be a candidate for autopsy.

Apologies in advance if this is a daft question, but we came across a dead heron today and I wondered if it should be reported to anyone in case they want to autopsy it? If so who?

It's on private land and not in anyone's way. Quite recent, it wasn't there on Monday afternoon so it's less than 3 days dead.

Thanks
