RE: Leigh Ornithological Society

Great that the LOS has been recognised in this way. Congratulations to all involved, past and present. Hopefully the society can continue to be a success.

Dear members and friends, I am delighted to inform you that the Society has been given the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service. (M.B.E.)

This is a wonderful achievement, and a major honour for the Society to receive this prestigious award. I am very proud of the groups' achievements since its formation and pleased that we have been recognised in this way. I would like to pay tribute to the hard work and commitment of the Officers, committee, valued members and volunteers past and present, not forgetting the Societys founders of 1971 and pioneer naturalists before that time.

David Shallcross Chairman.

best wishes and thanks to members of Manchester Birding for sharing your records with LOS.
