We only have a tiny garden but it backs onto scrubland which is thankfully left to its own devices. Its not far from Rumworth so we do get some interesting birds going back and forth between there. We have a very small pond which is also left to nature. Incredibly 42 frogs made it home last Spring which probably says more about the lack of habitat than the desirability of our pond. We have a bird table and 5 feeders with a mix of RSPB suet, favourites blend and sunflower seeds. To date we have recorded 40 different birds. Regulars include Bullfinch (upto 8) 20 House Sparrows Wren WoodPigeon Coal Tit Willow Tit Collared Dove Blue Tit Goldfinch Chaffinch Sparrowhawk Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler in the Willows behind the fence. We heard a Grasshopper Warbler in the scrub last year and a Linnet yesterday. Ravens and Buzzards regularly overhead and a Siskin once called in for 30 seconds. Redwing, Fieldfare and A Great Spotted Woodpecker have been spotted in the scrub from the bedroom window. We are also blessed with 3 Hedgehogs who come in in the evenings. Ive been furloughed from work so will update on sightings. Stay safe everyone.
