Yesterday spend 20 mins at dusk scanning the sky. Nothing of note except a single Bat!

Today been busy but overhead Sparrowhawk main sighting with Long Tailed Tit, Dunnock and Coal Tit additions to the list.  Chiffchaff calling in tall trees again.

Did a 30 second dawn chorus from front bedroom window at 6.45am and hear my first Chiffchaff of the year in the tall trees. Waiting for male Blackcap to return as heard one for last few years.

While closing garage door at lunchtime one of the local Grey Wagtails flew of a neighbours flat dorma roof. I see them regularly on the Dorma roofs and the Kennedy trading estate nearby. I always though they would be attracted to puddles of water up there, but not been much rain recently.  The nearest stream I am aware runs from Bodmin Road to behind the Bulls Head nearly half a mile away.

Blue Tit nest building in nestbox was seen taking material out but later taking material in. Didn't realise they would be so picky about nest material.

Heard and seen count now 22

Small rear garden North West facing on to other houses in the estate with wooden fencing on all sides. Common garden birds attracted to neighbours bird feeders but never anything unusual. Front of house faces grass embankment across the road with line of tall trees behind Chaddock Lane trading estate. Tried to give this more attention than back garden over the years but only ever seen Great Spotted Woodpecker, Tawny Owl, Blackcap, Chiffchaff and overhead Buzzard, Sparrowhawk & Kestrel in the past.   

This morning while about to open rear bedroom window I was welcomed by great views of a male Sparrowhawk. It was on the fence that is very popular with House Sparrows and stayed several minutes before taking off low over the gardens. This is only the second time in 25 years of living here I have seen one on garden fencing. Clearly I need to spend more time staring out of the window!
