Progress has been very slow on lockdown but with an Oystercatcher flying over I have now reached 30 species. I feel like there are many species missing but that is probably me being impatient.
I have for some years neglected watching the birds in my garden, at least partly because of the progressive removal of trees by my neighbours and the subsequent reduction in birds recorded here. In years gone by I used to spend many hours watching the birds both in my garden, and also those flying over. Over a total of thirty years this resulted in a fairly good list for my garden including a few truly unexpected items in the bagging area such as Fulmar and Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.
Now with the COVID-19 isolation I can now concentrate again on what was my primary interest when I first moved here many years ago.
I started my observations here on Sunday March 22nd and have now reached the magnificent total of 22 species in six days. So far the only bonus has been Greylag Goose flying over which is usually no more than a very occasional visitor in spring here.
