Thanks for clearing that up John, clearly a youngster now from that photo.
Id noticed the yellow near the tip of the bill on your earlier photo but thought it was food.

Rob,
In this much better photograph taken by a friend you can see that the bill is actually tri-coloured and also just about make out a gape line. The overall plumage isn't the sleek, glossy black expected in an adult.

Without wanting to sound silly, wouldnt the bright red bill indicate an adult or near adult bird?
I thought juvenile Chough have a dull yellowish amber coloured bill.
Just an observation.

Called in to see the juvenile Chough this evening. Gave great views right on the border of Cheshire/Derbyshire (birders in Derbyshire/bird in Cheshire).

Chough showing well below the Windgather Rocks (2nd day). Bird can be mobile & visits Derbyshire side of the border.
