For anyone who isnt aware the Elton area is currently under threat (like a lot of other areas in GM) under the GMSF.
On Sunday 17th March there will be a protest walk from Elton High School starting at 1pm which will take a route of 4 miles and end at Elton Sailing club in protest of the proposals.
The sailing club will be opening its doors from 2pm and there will be folk there after the walk to help with objection letters or take written letters in.
Myself and Simon Warford are aiming to be around Elton on Sunday morning for a spot of birding and then to join the protest walk. It would be really good if any other birders who are free could join us at some point or another to show their support.
Most of the GM birding community has visited Elton over the years for rarities such as little Bittern, White winged-black terns or year ticks such as Scaup or Mealy Redpoll it would be great if birders could give something back and object to these proposals which threaten 7 SBI's and several red and amber listed birds.
The walk starts at 1 pm from Elton High School Sailing club open from 2pm
But please email objections to planningandhousing@greatermanchester-ca.gov.uk quoting GMA7 by the 18th March
