Ive sent an email to the planning and housing adddress in the chain below objecting to the Elton development and suggest we all do to show how much opposition there is to these.
If they were really concerned about the housing crisis, they'd build smaller, affordable houses nearer to existing facilities. Far less environmental impact & more useful
Instead, they're building the same number of larger, high-end houses - they've got an allocation, so why not make much more profit ? And, GM is going along with it
This needs to be challenged with an alternative outcome
Elton reservoir is another area 3500 homes to be built around there.
So another plea going to birders to object to this one too
I don't have all the official statistics, but it appears to me that Elton is the 2nd most popular site (from Pennington flash) on the greater Manchester forum (2nd most viewed and posted). Surly this must reflect something in the importance of this site?
I am aware though that other sites would have started later, but still - must mean something (so you'd think?).

Both terrible ideas but let's object to the whole concept of loss of green space everywhere, not just on our doorstep. The framework is working off out of date projections and is still a developers wet dream.
A line in the sand needs drawing as to what progress entails
1600 houses also planned to be built on Greenbelt on Irlam Moss in addition to loss of more Greenbelt at Barton Moss for Port Salford development. All home to Yellowhammer, Grey Partridge, Lapwing, Yellow Wagtail and lots more. As well as being Grade 1 agricultural land and a vital carbon store.
I would like to echo Marks plea for all members of the Forum to oppose these plans proposed under the GMSF. Follow the link Mark posted and voice your objections. Be aware though its a lengthy document!
Ive been lurking around here for a little while but have never posted, however I felt that this is something that should be shared. Im aware that some members on here live in Worsley or one of the surrounding areas but most will not. A patch of Greenbelt land close to where I live in Boothstown has been allocated by the council for 300 executive homes to be built on. This is known as Allocation 31. I personally walk this patch of land each day and it is a small strong hold for some red listed birds including a large flock of house sparrows and lapwings. In the summer months house martins and swallows glide over these fields and is something enjoyed by all. It would be an awful shame if this green belt land was concreted over and the wildlife once again squeezed out. As we all know once we build on Greenbelt land we cant get it back again.
There is a meeting on the 6th of March at 6pm at the Boothstown community centre if anyone is able to attend and voice their concerns.
