Inspired by Andy Bissitt's posts of finding Purple Hairstreaks in Romiley and tipped off to look at Chadkirk C.E. I went to both sites and found Purple Hairstreaks at virtually every Oak I scanned. Today I had no trouble finding them on Hazel Grove Golf Course. With next week promising another heat wave there may not be a better time to go searching. They are lazy flyers and perch for ages so if you find one that isn't obscured by leaves they give great photo opportunities, but open winged shots are, for me, quite a challenge. Any slightly open wing always seems to be at distance. Why not try your luck?
