Perhaps the local community could formulate an alternative business plan that involves EcoTourism ? The local community around Pomona attempted a similar campaign to try to save Pomona Docks, but in the objections and at the enquiry we were just making alternative land-use suggestions - a properly formulated business plan might have given us a much better chance of politicians and Peel taking notice of what we were saying, and there is still a slight possibility this could happen for, say, the smaller south-west dock area

Turn Moss has ecological importance in the form of vital Willow Tit habitat, a species that I consider to be Greater Manchesters' most special bird, due to the fact that we currently host 10% of the UK population, and also in the context of the Mersey Valley wildlife corridor, just a casual look at recent sightings shows that Ring Ouzel, Redstart, Wheatear and Short-eared Owl have all utilised the site on spring/autumn migration

A wider Mersey Valley EcoTourism plan could include Turn Moss and show an alternative viewpoint of land-use to the current plans, and potentially provide decent employment for local people, always a head-turner for politicians on most planning committees

Proposed development of Turn Moss playing fields :

There is a plan to build new two storey changing rooms and gymnasium, several 3G football pitches, training mounds, and floodlights surrounded by a 4.5 m.high fence to the left of Turn Moss road (to tbe Chorlton boundary )which will be fenced off from the public.
Also a trim -track around the perimeter, (fenced off 1.5m high) a cafe and kiddies playground, together with two car parks (pay and display ?) As well as loss of trees that get in the way.
You can imagine the impact of this massive loss of land ,habit and access for animals will have.Trafford Borough Council have given 21 days to lodge objections which finishes by Thursday March 1st 2018.
