RE: Tripod Leg Sleeves

I extend the centre column about six inches. This has pipe lagging around it and this part sits on my shoulder.

There are different ways a tripod+scope can be carried for longer distances. I often carry mine military-style, ie as a soldier carries his weapon: resting on forearm close to body, ready for action. Much more comfy for long walks, but does get some apprehensive looks from non-birders who don't realise what it is ! So, I don't use it when there are non-birders around

Not been on here for a couple of days but yes I agree, pipe lagging is the cheapest way to do it. Spot on smile

Thanks Tom

Just bought a bit of 22mm pipe lagging tubing from Homebase and seems to fit quite snuggly. I'll see how it goes!

Cheers

Hi Nev, just a thought but have you had a look at FOAM LAGGING TUBES, which you can get from the likes of B&Q I think they might do the job, and might be a bit cheaper.......

Hi All

I guess this is one for Doc Brewster, but can anyone recommend some padded tripod leg wraps (just for the top part). I've a Velbon Sherpa 200R and am looking to make life easier on my shoulders. I've looked at the Wildlife Watching Supplies website, but they don't specify the Sherpa on their list. Anyone know of another supplier or the correct size?confuse

Cheers

Nev
