Pale phase Buzzard at Elton

I was walking along the canal towpath this afternoon and got talking to a guy who said he had found the Pale phase Buzzard on the ground below Woos Nab Farm, Daisyfield. At first he thought it was dead but upon closer inspection he found it was still alive. He took it to Greenmount Bird Sanctuary where they discovered it had a heavy infestation of flat flies. These were removed, the bird allowed to recover and was later released back at Daisyfield. Unfortunately I didn't get the name of the guy who found the Buzzard, but without his actions it would more than likely have perished, so all credit to him. This happened around a month ago and we have seen the Buzzard on several occasions since in company with another.

Coincidentally an adult Tawny Owl at one of our sites has also recently been taken into Greenmount with the same condition. As of yet we don't know the outcome.
