Late posting, but the weekend spent down near Malvern, at a friend's.
Near his house in Leigh Sinton, had my first willow warbler and swallow of the year on Saturday, as well as green and great spotted woodpeckers, a few singing skylarks and numerous displaying buzzards.
Sunday morning spent in the Malvern Hills; North Hill, to be precise:
Great views this afternoon of the male Eastern Black Redstart at Tewkesbury Abbey.
The bird was feeding high up on the tower upon arrival but thankfully it soon came down to a nearby tree and gave fabulous views feeding on the ground too.
The bird is the first inland record of the species and is presumably the same bird as at nearby Ripple Pits last weekend.
It's over 5 years since my first on Holy Island in 2011 and it brought it all back again after seeing this little beauty.
Surely a potential split in future and well worth travelling down the M5 for!

The information services are reporting this as Gloucestershire, if it is at Tewksbury Abbey itself then that is in Gloucestershire, so they are probably correct in doing so.

Spot on Paul. It is Gloucestershire, don't know why I put the post under Worcestershire, still recovering from the Xmas doo though, so perhaps it can be moved to the correct county!
