Priory Gardens, Sale

Mostly very quiet early afternoon visit, but this Spotted Flycatcher was a new bird for me at this site.

A Ring-necked Parakeet in Priory Gardens was the highlight of the late visit for the BTO's Breeding Bird Survey in this area. 18 Swift over nearby Worthington Park but no House Martins recorded in the whole survey square.

Have taken on a new BTO Breeding Bird Survey this year so was out from 0615 this morning for my first visit. Part of the designated route is through Priory Gardens so I was extremely chuffed to find Wood Warbler trilling above me on the path!
Best access is from the small car park off Dane Road (just after the tennis courts if coming from the A56 end). Walk up the track towards the motorway. The bird was on the edge of the wood directly opposite the end of the wooden building on your rhs.

Wood Warbler present at 7am this morning.

Walk up from the small car park towards the motorway and the bird was singing in the area adjacent to the last building on the right hand side.

Info thanks to Nick Hilton
