RE: Leigh Ornithological Society Open Day

looks like i missed out on meeting some off you, apologise i was showing the distinguished guests around

Sincere apologise this post has been seen as a derogatory comment to other people that attended, not my intention at all.

Thanks for that Paul and for attending, it went very well didn't it. fantastic to see so many people interested and keen on birds and wildlife in general. The support and attendance of the Mayor of Wigan and our MP Andy Burnham along with local Councillor Mrs Greensmith. add kudos to the event.

Great Event and one of the best I have seen from the LOS - Well done to all the organisers, the exhibitors, Photographers, and everyone involved, and all who took the time out to attend. I think it went better than anyone could imagine - excellent :)

Leigh Ornithological Society Open Day

Leigh Ornithological Society will be having an 'Open Day' in the Derby Room at Leigh Library on Saturday 30th January from 11am to 3pm.  The main idea of this event is to enable all our local birders, especially those who only ever meet on the Forum or Facebook, to meet in person and chat informally about all things birding and to put some faces to the names they've seen on the internet.

There will be photographic slideshow presentations by four well-known local photographers who will be willing to chat about their photographs, equipment and techniques as well as local conservation groups such as Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Red Rose Forest and at least two local Friends groups.  There will also be a small demonstration about setting up camera nestboxes and details will be available about how to put live video footage on the internet.

LWT will have free permits available for those wishing to visit Little Woolden Moss and Astley Moss and a selection of second-hand bird books will be on sale as well as some small bags of bird food.  Refreshments will also be available whilst you chat to like-minded people.

Entry is free and everyone is welcome. Full details are on our website: www.leighos.org.uk
