RE: Visiting American birder needs assistance

An American birder from Buffalo, New York, is in Manchester on business during April 10th to 15th and would love to be put in touch with anyone who might be available to guide him around a few local county sites.

The date most likely he will be free to bird the area would be April 14th, so if there is/are a willing county birder free and able to show off our fine county and avifauna then please do get in touch with me in the first instance where I can then put you in touch with each other.

Cheers, Ian

The response to my request from Manchester Birding users was frankly deeply heartening and it is patently obvious that generosity is alive and well within us. My most sincere thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to assist Scott and I have included below his recent correspondence to me.

I am overwhelmed by the generosity of the birding community around Manchester! I wish we could spend time with each and every one of them. Perhaps we will return for a birding-focused visit. We are only planning for a single outing at this point. I have been in contact one of the many birders you put us in contact with and we will probably schedule something with him. Please express our gratitude to all who have volunteered their time for us. Perhaps another trip? And thank you for your efforts. We are looking so forward to our arrival in a few days.

Sincerely,

Scott Klinger

Scot Klinger and his wife from Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA, are birders who will be visiting Manchester from September 16th to the 29th and are looking for a Manchester birder who could show them some of our birds. A trip to a site like Pennington Flash would probably be a fantastic option as they'll be excited just to see Robins and Magpies!

They are staying in the City Centre and will be making use of buses and trams but if anyone could spare a few hours to spend with them they would hugely appreciate it.

Please reply privately to me in the first instance and I can put anyone interested in direct though with them.
