Woolston Park / Longbarn

I was out doing my garden yesterday in Longbarn where I was joined by a very friendly robin that was making the most of all the worms and insects I was digging up when I heard a very loud shrieking and a bird with pointy wings heading up the street coming from Woolston park direction.

At first I thought it could have been an escaped gyrfalcon due to the pointy wings but as it got closer and I could see the colour of the bird and its long tail soon realised that it was a parrot or parakeet.

I was then telling a neighbour about it flying over and they had said they had spotted one in Woolston park a week or two ago.

Has anyone else seen this bird in the area? I have heard there is a colony in Manchester so wondered if they are spreading into our area or if it is simply and escaped pet that is managing to survive?
