I can see no merit in having a blanket policy of not interfering with nature. The fact is, as a species we are doing a good job in annihilating species and their habitats locally and worldwide and if that is not interfering with nature then I don't know what is. Providing a helping hand, is in my view a moral duty, which should be exerted with at least equal measure.

Hi Mick If you are in a position to ask for this then please do, at the moment there are a maximum of 18 nests every year and this is limited by the number of holes, some of which are unsuitable. I'm sure the population would be much larger if more suitable nest tunnels could be provided. The ones they seem to like the best are in the wall next to the old bridge. Cheers Ian
Sand Martins. I am asking your forum if it would be worthwhile to request of HH Smith, the builders at Radcliffe Market, if they could provide nest holes to help sand martins, who come every year, or do they think it would it be interfering with the birds.Thanks. I am a keen follower of your forum and am amazed at the variety of birdlife, as reported by members, here in our area.
