A treat for Blackbirds

I have been putting chunks of Water Melon (Without the rind) on my lawn recently as a treat for my tortoise.

She rarely touches it, preferring Honeydew Melon instead, but a young Blackbird that is almost always in the garden truly relishes the fruit.

Adult Blackbirds, that are appearing more frequently as our Rowans are now covered in ripe berries, and have also developed a taste for Water Melon.

I'm considering putting chunks of the fruit on the bird table through the autumn as a treat for the thrushes, although in wintry conditions it may just turn into

red ice cubes.
