RE: Watergrove Reservoir (Other Wildlife)

A Ringlet was seen here yesterday evening. My first ever for Watergrove. Obligingly it sat still with it wings closed on a bramble flower clearly showing the white spots. Then just to make certain a Meadow Brown landed right next to it for comparison smile

The prolonged spell of dry and warm weather has done wonders for the local butterfly population. On a walk round this morning with Deon Meadowcroft we saw the following:

Green-veined White - good numbers
Large White - 5 on bramble flower at one spot
Meadow Brown - numerous. Didn't have time to count them all!
Small Heath - 2
Small Skipper - 3 on spear thistle plus good numbers elsewhere
Small Tortoiseshell - 8 on creeping thistle and 5 on bramble flower + 2 others. The largest count here this year.

Large Skipper was seen earlier in the week.

Steve
