RE: Northern Bald Ibis in Manchester again?

There was an article in tonight's Manchester Evening News....the bird was caught & is going to be homed at Chester Zoo. Nice story.

Thanks for the information - what a shame. I do hope it recovers and is homed somewhere suitable.

I've just spoken to the lady next door to where the bird was photographed yesterday. Apparently the bird was in a bad way, it had slid down that roof. It was later captured and taken to the RSPBCA (local dialect).

Just checked the photos I took of the escaped Bald Ibis at Blackbrook 'Zoo' in Derbyshire lasy year and that bird had a white ring on its' right leg, so that's a possible third one to contend with!

Thanks for the photo Alex, the bird is a Northern Bald Ibis, with a white "zoo-style" ring just above it's left foot

Hi all,
I'm a new user and very unsure but we think we saw an ibis in Stretford, Manchester today. It looked for all the world like a Northern bald ibis (not very scientific - just google images!) but I've now found out that it was spotted in Tameside July 2012 too. Does anyone know anything about it? It was ringed - an escapee, maybe? I have a photo but I'm not sure how to attach it...

Thanks,
Alex

The Hattersley bird was un-ringed so it sounds like a different bird

Alex, I would be interested to see the photo
