Surely... not we're going to see our famed local mosses covered with these useless beasts? We're at the frontline of the protestation (if that's the case, let's just face it) since we're end users who all care about the environment there - I do being a regular watcher of the site, anyway, I know there's people in the county who might not have visited, but still feel strongly versus this - I think we'd be unanimous in not wanting this, but I might be wrong. Of course, it would be wrong to jump to any conclusions whatsoever, but it's better to ponder it now, I don't think a council would waste time applying for something which won't come to fruition.

Trafford council has recently given planning permission for the erection of a temporary (2yrs), 50m meteorological mast at Altrincham sewage works. For all those who are familiar with the area, it will be sited in the area of rough grassland/scrub (and the fine show of Lucerne in the summer) to the north of the pools. Why you might ask would anyone want to erect such a structure? The answer may be, I think, a future wind turbine, or turbines. The company which carried out the environmental impact assessment for the site ( a reputable company I hasten to add) are known, amongst other things, for their services to the 'wind renewable sector'. So unless I've got the wrong end of the stick, the temporary met. mast will enable the client to assess whether the area is suitable, or not, for a wind turbine(s). If anyone wants to check it out, the planning application number is 80620/FULL/2013.
