Ive recorded 135 species for Blackleach and 126 for Clifton.C.P. they include Smew and Great Northern Diver at Clifton and Red Creasted Pochard, Osprey,Hobby and Garganey on Blackleach. Don't no how many Ive seen in Salford all together, must be about 150 species counting Worsley woods and moss area.
Hi James, I put my hand up to admit that I do keep a Salford Borough list; ( it's so modest though I'm a bit shy about saying what it is!).
Let me explain;- I do keep (first and foremost) a Greater Manchester list. When I come down, either passing through from Durham, generally to Liverpool or to Manchester airports, or visiting relatives/ friends, or indeed on a special twitch to edge along my GM list, it does add an extra dimension and a little spice to try at the same time to add to my lists for any of the ten boroughs within the county. My average across all ten boroughs is 63.7 species per borough, the best being Wigan on 137, the most modest being Rochdale at 16, (which I haven't explored other than to twitch Dotterels once on Brown Wardle Hill!).
If I ever returned to live in G M again, it would be fun to try for 100 in EVERY borough; perhaps a challenge awaiting one of you? (This would of course be rather harder than having an average 100 across the ten boroughs, which I suspect some of you residents will already have achieved if you simply checked up from your past notes/records?)

Hi James. Do you mean the borough of Salford or the City?
During the period of the bird atlas I covered quite a few squares in the borough and have recorded just 65 species in total. I agree 100 is a decent achievement in the borough but there are some good sites which I never made it to; Astley Moss East Peat Pools etc.
