RE: Bird ID & what should I do?

Thanks for that Dave - it's obvious when you know!! I did say I had VERY limited experience.

He seems to be hopping about the cage quite happily so he probably just had a hangover from hitting the glass too hard (a situation not wholy unfamiliar to us all).

I will let him out very soon as my house cat is somewhat perturbed by this temporary visitor...

Cheers

Tim

Hi Tim

The bird's a juvenile Collared Dove, probably just fledged. If it's wings feel OK and it's moving them well enough it's probably going to be OK releasing it. Otherwise if you're able to house it for a while, some grain and water should keep it happy. If you're not able to house it there'll be some links for rescue centres etc on the main website.

Cheers
Dave

Hi All

I recently had a bird fly into my window and have 'rescued' it from the local feline population.

A photo can be found at: http://www.algaeholics.talktalk.net/Birdy.jpg

I'm guessing this is a Dipper - from my VERY limited experience.

I was thinking of keeping it a few days in the warmth and then releasing it back onto the local
(ish) river - if it IS a Dipper that is.

Any advice welcome.

Thanks

Tim
