RE: National Wildlife Crime Unit faces the axe - please sign the petition.

Whilst this petition only reached 6000 signatures, thankfully plenty of MP's were persuaded to get involved and the home office has taken notice by funding the unit for another year. Endangered wildlife in the UK will continue to receive the protection it deserves.

Thanks to everyone who signed the petition and wrote to their MP.

There is also an Early Day Motion regarding this issue (which is an alternative method to get this debated in the Commons).

Write to your MP urging him/her to sign and support 'Early day Motion 603'.

I've just checked the e-Petition website and only a paltry 747 have signed up. A long way short of the 100,000 signatures needed to force a debate, so perhaps the direct approach to an MP would be more productive.

Cheers, John

Signed - it would be a tragedy for such a thing to become a victim - I am assuming due to the 'deficit-reduction program'?

Also signed but I don't hold out much hope of success if the poor response to a similer e-petition regarding protection for our birds of prey is anything to go by.
Cheers Ian

The future of the National Wildlife Crime Unit is in doubt. Please sign this petition to stop the Home Office axing this department which upholds the law with regards to our wildlife.
