This is the fifth year I have been on one of these cruises and I must say they are very professionally run and an enjoyable way to spend a few hours venturing out into Liverpool Bay. One trend I have noticed is that the number of birds seen seems to be diminishing year on year, particularly the "ordinary" gulls. Is anyone of the same opinion?

Thaks for the positive comments, I'll pass them on

Obviously, conditions were less than ideal to see anything slightly out of the ordinary, but, the RSPB guys did a great job all the same. The following were seen:

Peregrine (perched atop the Hamilton Station tower on the Wirral side)
Shag (unusual here apparently)
Oystercatcher
Grey Plover (lots on, or heading, for Crosby beach)
Sanderling (as above)
Knot
Sandwich Tern (just the one. Terns, generally, conspicuous by their absence!)
Mediterranean Gull x 2
Common Gull
Kittiwake
plus the expected gull fest, feasting on the chum
