As part of the Heritage Lottery Fund supported 'From Grey to Green' project the Greater Manchester Local Record Centre and Friends of Low Hall LNR will be holding a Bioblitz at Low Hall LNR and SBI in Hindley, Wigan throughout the day on Saturday 28th July. The site consists of two main areas of open water together with extensive swamp and areas of exposed mud (in a normal summer!). Associated habitats include large areas of wet woodland and scrub. The SBI also includes an area of grassland which is good for invertebrates and the flash supports good numbers of aquatic invertebrates.
Please try to support this excellent project simply by coming along, showing your face and recording whatever wildlife you can for the amount of time you can offer. Five minutes to five hours; it's all worthwhile and will be greatly appreciated.
If nothing else, you should be able to meet the Assistant Recorder for Greater Manchester and let him know what you think about the new 2010 county bird report
