I've just spent the morning kayaking on the Bridgewater canal between Dunham Massey Park and Oldfield Brow. I counted at least 29 Banded Demoiselles, 11 Broad Bodied Chasers and 3 Brown Hawkers along this stretch.

The first Banded Demoiselle I saw was a female and this was an emerald green colour. I wasn't sure what it was until I saw one or two more associating with the distinctive males. Stunning with the sun shining on them!

Also: Royal Fern growing along the canal side

Rabbit passed me near Island Pool. Plenty of Fallow Deer around the park.

Sorry henry meant emerald dragonfly, didn't get a really good look at it but was definitely greenish, the guy I was with called emerald and when I checked at home seemed to match, but would need to have a longer view to say anything.

Not seen any emerald damselflys in Dunham myself. Did they hold their wings at rest in a diagonal position to their body?

Watched the dragonflies here yesterday, good numbers of Common Darter, Brown Hawker and at one point what looked to be an Emerald sp. Anyone know if they're found here? Put some pictures of Darter on blog if anyone's interested, great animals and amazing to see the eyes so close up!

Had a walk round the gardens yesterday after reading about them in the local paper. Well worth a visit and the fragrance is amazing.

Had a look at the giant lilies, cardiocrinum giganteum in the park's gardens this afternoon. They will be in flower for a few more days and worth having a look at for NT members, quite expensive otherwise
