RE: Calling CSI

The hinges were knackered so the whole lid could be slid off. Now reinforced with a bolt and proper hinges.

Sparrows were copulating on the fence so hopefully they'll try for a second brood.

Not seen it but we have Squirrels that have gotten in our eaves through climbing the walls...

l doubt even the most determined Corvid could take the top off a nest box, but Squirrels are feisty, relentless and have a dogged determination

Box was under bedroom window ledge so unless it was flying squirrels I'm suspecting Magpies :)

Hi Tony
I watched a Grey squirrel remove the lid of one of my nest boxes about 8 years ago. It chewed the wood around the screw that held the lid down, it took about 5 minutes to do.

Got home from work to find the lid of my nestbox ripped off and the 3 House Sparrow chicks gone.

Seeing as the box is 30 feet up I can discount Squirrels as the culprits.

I'm guessing Magpie, Carrion Crow or Jay - all of which have been hanging around my garden this week :(
