A Peacock Butterfly flew across Warrington Road, from Ince Cemetery, and landed on the gable wall of the row on houses there. I guess a cemetery is a good place to find nectar at this time of year...

On open space at the top of The Valley at Beech Hill yesterday: 1 Holly Blue, 1 Meadow Brown, 2 Gatekeeper, 1 Small Tortoiseshell, 3 Large White, 1 Brown Hawker, queen Tree Bumblebee; Elm species along the public footpath off the end of Beech Hill Lane; Giant Knotweed, or hybrid with Japanese Knotweed, with huge leaves

1st March: areas of public open space around Hawkley Hall (especially the old site of the Hall itself at Bransfield Close) - queen Bumblebees active, with several Buff-Tailed, 1 Red-Tailed and 1 White-Tailed seen close enough to i.d.; 1 Small Tortoiseshell; 200+ 7-Spot Ladybirds at Bransfield Close in clusters on brambles
