I had a similar problem with one feeder in particular which was regularly blown off its hook - I attached a clothes-peg to the hook eventually... whicjh stops the feeder moving so much - Problem solved.

I'm pleased to announce that the feeder in question was recovered after the strong winds and I recently got round and topped it up and left it in a bush - the next day it was empty! There are a lot of house sparrows which visit, I guess. I am going to keep an eye of who attends it and keep a list now.
The feeder never lasted the high winds :/ It's either blown away forever or lying in the communal garden bit which I can't access - I am going to donate it to the communal garden when it gets found!
The poor tits will have to settle for a two course meal (nuts for starters, skip the chicken and banana for dessert) as I am a vegetarian so no meat :=) I am confident that I should be able to get a few visitors and if not I'd donate it to the communal garden I know in the seating area is a bush where House Sparrow and Robin appear so all will be well.
Hi Melanie. I might try the balls but at the moment I have some bog-standard bird food from the pound shop My feeder is on the edge of the balcony a few metres from a tree which regularly attracts Great Tits etc so I am confident of success. I shall monitor the situation but I have just attached it so I'll see what happens, and if not I'll change the feed - I am not expecting spectacular species by any stretch given that I live in inner-city Manchester but it's nice all the same.
I have a bird feeder question. I live on the first floor of a tower block facing several back gardens which attract the usual birds to them and I was hoping to get some to visit my feeder. My question is has anyone tried anything similar in terms of above-ground-level feeders or am I wasting my time? I am quite confident we should get something to the feeders myself I was wondering had it been done before in similar circumstances by anyone here?
