Whilst doing a bit of digging and delving recently looking for some information on Twite I came across some links which I though might be of some interest regarding the considerable efforts being put into the on-going, multi-actioned RSPB/Natural England Twite Recovery Project. Whilst some of it is relevant to the South Pennines as a whole, much of this also relates to our birds within our own recording area, especially so the second link.
The first link is to a very interesting YouTube video, just under 10 minutes long, explaining a little bit about the Twite and the background and the aims of this project. This can be watched by clicking here.
The second link provides yet more fascinating detail as to some of the activities and plans involved in trying to save this finch but with greater emphasis on our recording area. This can be viewed by clicking here.
The third link is to a RSPB webpage giving a short summary of the objectives and achievements of the project as a whole to date. This can be viewed by clicking on this link.
