yep good luck, the weather is always a tricky one, more importantly keep you eye on the wind, if its windy you might get nowt unless it has been constantly windy for a few days then they might be desperate and need to hunt either way, usually they dont bother in the wind especially if they have already feed recently, i have done the long journey and spent all day when it was a heavy wind and nothing flew at all, the next day would of been great, the day after the heavy wind would produce a good afternoons hunting, all good fun, best of luck

Dennis and Neil - many thanks for your replies. Some great advice that will come in very handy when I'm there! I am planning to go during the week and stay in a local b&b for a night, so I'll have two full days scanning the Carrs. However, as you said Dennis, it's just pot luck with the weather, I will most likely go in a couple of weeks time so I will keep an eye on the forecast.
First and foremost, avoid weekends!! I went weekend before last and although the owls showed (at least 5 at one point but locals counted 15!), they kept their distance which given the number of would-be photographers (at least 40 people there) standing along the road, wasn't a surprise. As Dennis said, best bet is to stay in your car though the road is narrow with soft grassy margins (and ditches) so be mindful where you park.
i went last year a few times, ive not got any info at present how the owl situation is down there at the moment, this time last year they was doing very well, the lay out is basically just 1 long lane that goes about a mile down from worralby, the feilds down at the bottom of the lane near the railway crossing seem to be the most active, also after 1-2 ish seems to be the best time though i have heard the owls also have been seen flying in the morning and if they get a feed wont fly in the afternoon, best thing to do is stay in the car, drive slowly up and down the lane and if you get lucky the fence posts along the lane are where the owls land, also try if possible to go when it is not windy, expereinces have shown me that the owls cant hunt very well in the wind and tend not to bother, a windless sunny afternoon for me is what you really want though its all pot luck,

Hi all, I'm planning a 2 day trip up to Worlaby Carrs to try my luck at some of these wonderful SEO photos that have been coming out of the place.
I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience of the area and can offer some advice on the layout of the place etc. or if anyone can recommend any good blogs/webpages about the Carrs. Also are the SEO's present there throughout the winter or are they more abundant there when flooding on to the east coast in the Autumn?
