Very disturbing to read. It doesn't say whereabouts on the flash the nets were found but my bet is over at the western end possibly as its underwatched.

I think all birders who visit Pennington need to be vigilant in the future and report any suspicious behaviour. Any type of gill netting, etc is very damaging to both fish and birds alike.
