Its the better halfs birthday on the 14th don't suppose she would appreciate a visit as a birthday treat:big grin: I will have to wait for the general opening, shame what a real treat for GM birders.
Isn't it the forums birthday or websites as well this week
I had a look round last night with the RSPB volunteers - nice big hide and a new visitor centre. Look out for the Fruit Bats
You don't realise what a big site this is looking across from Inner Marsh farm. The two will be linked together by a footpath which will eventually run to Burton Point.
BTW - The Crake showed itself for 2 seconds and I missed it Other birds at IMF last night were 3 or 4 Curlew Sandpipers, 2 Green Sand, 1 Dunlin, 5 Snipe and a few Blackwits.
I should say - opening to the general public is towards the end of the month when the finishing touches have been completed.

Thanks to Paul Brady of the RSPB Dee Estuary Team, Manchester Birding has been very generously invited to an exclusive pre-opening guided tour of the brand new fantastic Burton Mere Wetlands at Inner Marsh Farm RSPB.
The tour will be on the 14th September and as there's a maximum of 30 birders permitted it's a first come first served basis. Anyone interested should let me know by email please (or private message) asap. Anyone wanting to go but struggling for lifts let me know likewise and I'll see if we can't organise some lifts/fuel sharing.
