I have learned that the netting to which I was referring was indeed put in place to help prevent birds nesting in the hedgerows. It seems to be in connection with the proposed route of an overhead power line.
There was netting on a section of hedge on the A5092 at Greenodd for a few months last spring and sure enough that section has now been removed for a new water treatment site by the looks of it - I'd been wondering what it was for for the last year and a bit! Cheers, Peter
Over the past couple of weeks I have noticed, in several places the arrival of green netting on hedgerows. The netting is usually 2 - 3m long and covers both sides of the hedge. Anyone any idea what is the purpose of the netting?
