Hindley Deep Pits SBI (Site of Biological Importance) was surveyed by the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit (GMEU) in 2010. Part of the SBI was originally designated for its bird interest, the area of woodland south of Highfield / Hemfield Roads. Unfortunately there are no recent records from the area in the GMBRG database.

Would anyone who has birdwatched in this area over the past 5 years please drop me a p.m. with your email address. I can then send you a map showing the boundary of the SBI. Even if you don't keep records any information as to which species are breeding in the woods would be useful.

In the absence of any information, this part of the SBI will probably be deleted as it does not qualify under the other criteria for SBI designation SBI Selection Guidelines

Any help would be appreciated.

Steve
