A fantastic job there Ian. It works really well, very easy to use and excellent format. Much better than before.

You can quickly go to an area and then its subdivided. It should stop new threads appearing and being duplicated!

Well done Ian. Its a lot of work to get it going but very rewarding in the end. Its certainly a valuable resource as many of us bird out of county, some of us live out of county biggrin.gif but ultimately it is Manchester Birding and that is the main focus but links to sigtings all over the UK.

There will be an 'out of country' section soon to start work on..... wink.gif

Once again, well done!

Apologies for the disruption and changes to the new out-of-county section again. I personally am more comfortable with this sub-forum look and it still works very efficiently indeed. Opinion gratefully received.

I have yet to transfer the 200 or so threads in the old section over, so no we're not having two out-of-county sections! The last 200 took be nigh on 4 hours to do but I'll get there.

Thumbs up from me. Tip - if you either read all the posts or mark them all as read you will easily be able to see when new posts appear in any county/region.

Well, I've had several comments saying they like it and currently one who's not too sure. Two if you count me! I've done it out of almost necessity. The out-of-county is one the very best available resources in the north-west and has become very popular. It had become very congested and rather than using the search facility to see if a thread existed before posting, many just made a new one and with it the existing thread and all it's copious information died. I'm not saying this is going to make it any better but I'm hoping it might. It certainly makes the information easier to access, say for instance you're off birding in north Wales, well now it's easier to access all that information.

Stalwarts like me like the way it was though and I'm aware it looks very different and that our county (Greater Manchester remember) might now be playing second fiddle. Fear not though. I'm certainly not changing the name! It's Greater Manchester first and foremost (hence the title capitals) but I feel the information on the forum has expanded ad with it so should the forum. I'm not usually one for change but sometimes it's necessary.

Anyway, I would welcome any/all feedback, publically or privately. I will always take it on board (before I disregard it completely!) and appreciate the opinions of others.

Ian - just to say thanks very much for the changes - makes this forum an even more valuable and effective resource than it already was! Cheers, Peter

Just to let you know that I will be imminently making some changes (for the better I hope) to this out-of-county forum. The work will hopefully only take me a couple of days at the most and won't affect your ability to post your sightings but finding the particular thread make take a bit of looking until it's all finished.

I had never intended or expected this section of the fourm to become so popular and to be so damn useful but I have to say I am very grateful to everyone, especially those out of county birders, who post and make it such a good resource.
