Easily walkable Simon.

Head towards Leigh Bridge by Netto and get onto the canal towpath there. You're better off on the side opposite the large pub (Waterside public house) then just head on north-west(ish) past the pub and keep going until you see the flash on your left. When you come to a metal bridge over the canal head off left and follow the main path which will take you directly to Tom Edmondson and the Horrock's Hides.

It's not a long walk at all and can be well worth it with the habitat to your left well worth a look.

Does any one know the buses that you can get from Leigh bus station to Pennington Flash and where to get off the bus.
I can get the 126 to Leigh from the Trafford centre I'm lost after that is it walkable from Leigh bus station?

Simon as winter comes on the brook from Dunham Massey Park out to Bollington mill flats is worth checking. If I see any I shall report them on the Dunham Massey Park thread.

Worsley woods contains a fair few (last year about 12 were seen when flushed by workman nearby) that hide in the vegetation and reeds that border Warke Dam, though you might have to wait until proper winter (when vegetation has died back) to have a good chance. PM me if interested and i'll give you more details.

If you are anywhere near the area the pools behind Coggra farm in little lever have been very good for snipe recently smile.gif

As long as the water levels aren't too high, Pennington Flash afford easy viewing at the moment. Snipe are regularly on Horrock's Scrape (so you can view in the relative 'luxury' of the hide) and sometimes show very well indeed and quite close too. They can be difficult to pick out though as they prefer the well vegetated very right hand edge of the scrape but often also use muddy/weedy edge right below the hide.

Never ever seen one is there a place where they are unmissable or am I going blind..
I have never seen any of the cryptic camo waders in all of my 35 years on this planet smile.gifsmile.gif
