RE: Red Kite Bolton

I have also seen the Red Kite in Egerton, Bolton. I have seen two together and they hunt in the field at the back of my house. First saw them a couple of months ago but didn't get a close enough look to be able to identify, they are huge!

Yeah that's fine Ian. We were just wondering if anyone else had seen it in the local area.
Thanks,
Emma

There have been no sightings locally recently Emma but that's not surprising although Lancs and Cheshire have had the odd record of late. A great sighting though, I'll contact you privately for a few further details of it if that's ok.

A red kite just flew over our garden with a common tern mobbing it (6.45pm, 16.6.2010). We live in Sharples off the A666 (Blackburn Road). The kite circled for afew minutes then moved off north towards Egerton. This is the first record we have known in this area - anyone know of any other recent sightings locally? Also only our second sighting of common tern.
