As I was leaving the office in St Helens on Friday evening a large black corvid flew over Birchley St car park.It was only when 2 Carrion Crows appeared and started to mob it I realised it was actually a Raven.
they do fact number 3 in eastern europe, where this is leagal, if anyone finds a set line in this country one would hope you would be on the phone to the EA pretty damn quick to report this illegal activity.
Not seen the article Fred, I'll see if it's online. Remarkable, as you say, how things change. I've seen Raven from the office in Wigan every day this week. On Tuesday one plummeted vertically past the window, manouvering in the wind against the back of the building. That stopped me in mid-conversation with a colleague, they wondered what was up with me for a moment.

did anyone read the article about ravens in wednesdays daily mail.it mainly centred around the way they have spread in recent years away from the "celtic fringe" into most parts of britain so that there are now an estimated 13000 pairs.i think this is obvious to all who watch birds.20 years ago id never seen a raven.now they can be seen with great regularity.but it also gave a small "factfile"about ravens.some of these id never heard of.can anyone substantiate any of these. 1.ravens drop stones on predators that threaten their nests or young. 2.in the wild they make calls which lead foxes to dead animals.the foxes break the carcasses apart so the birds can feast. 3.ravens pull fishing lines from lakes to steal the fishermens catch.
