Great to see and hear the Wood Warbler this afternoon in its usual place.

c10 Redpoll across the valley
1 Swallow

Apart from good numbers of Willow Warbler and Chiffchaff singing it was fairly quiet in the afternoon sun.

Wood Warbler still present, in the area as described by Paul Dewey (see below). Quite mobile around a small area and mostly only doing the 'spinning coin' part of the song.
Of note- wall-nesting Coal Tit carrying food.

Had a walk up to see the wood warbler reported on Birdguides. Decent views, bird singing  in trees at 13.15 between Brushes road and Brushes reservoir, just before the treeline ends.

Also a county first for me in the shape of a cuckoo. Was calling above the road and then flew across the valley to other side of reservoir.

The bird in your photographs is a Canary Isaac, clearly escaped from captivity somewhere!

Lots of walks over the past week - one of which has got me and a few others flummoxed.  I have attached pics below, the bird was bigger than a robin, round belly and very yellow, at first glance i thought a Siskin, but its not. It is ringed but a green ring.

Suggestions so far have been Serin, yellowhammer, or an escaped bird... any suggestions most welcome!
