I have been going out every few days and putting a couple of bags of seed out at various sites around the fields. The long tail tits seem to be doing well on here, a few people have said they have notied a drop in numbers.

thats correct, the sewage works is adjacent the actual fields/woods. This site has now been cleared of all machinery and nature is taking over again. We have alocal group to try and keep it green space because as usual they want to build on it.

This is the site of the former Swinton sewage works, I think, at SD772003 (had a look round some years ago)? That's what's on the database anyway!

Went and had a quick walk this morning as my little lad was asleep and the wife was busy.
I live 2 minutes from the woods/fields and used to play on there all the time when I was a kid. If I go out, it's usually to Pennington or Clifton Country park. But going to make this a new and regular patch.biggrin.gif

Bull Finnch
Gold Finch x 11
