One wonders why you didn't head for the 'nailed on' drake Scaup at Chorlton Water Park then Richard A little out of the way perhaps but just off the motorway, only a very short walk and practically unmissable currently and showing well. GM wins again

Thanks Sarfraz. Just thought I'd keep you all up to date. First stop today was planned to be Winwick, closly followed by Rindle Road , and Carrington. However, finding 20 Grey Partridge in fields at Winwick, not to mention flocks of Yellowhammer and Tree Sparrow, kind of mopped up my targets for today. I headed off to Woolston for the Scaup that has been reported there several times, but to no avail.
So sites in GM did not get a look-in today, but they will feature in the future - still need to see GP in GM! So thanks again for sharing the info.

I saw 10 plus somewhere in the Piethorne area of Rochdale in December 2005. Not sure if there is any left now.

Richard

Try looking in the fields around the Rindle road feeding area on Astley moss. There are Greys and Red Legs knocking about at the moment.smile.gif

If you can get into Dunham Massey Park before the dog walkers you will get Grey Partridge close to Smithy Pool.

I'd recommend the north part of Carrington Moss Richard, the area just to the west of the Man United training ground often has them but would need a good walk around the field. They can be seen elsewhere on the moss sometimes easily from the car but it takes a bit of luck.
Thanks. Henry.

Heading up towards Rostherne and then into GM tomorrow. Anyone care to PM a site for Grey Partridge I could try? Missed them altogether last year - the only one I saw was in Sweden.
