As a follow up, I was talking to my optician,about colour change when wearing the specs, and he said that "colour perception" will revert back to "normal" after a while.So no colour loss! I shall be interested.

Interesting comment Sid, especially the Roy Orbison bit I just find the colours not as bright or intense. I will give them time. I have had varifocals for years, so no real problem there. know if they are "Essilor" or not.
Last August I had to have new specs and decided to go for the UV sensitive type. I discussed my requirements with the optician re use of bins and scope and she recommended Essilor Transitions varifocals. These have been really good especially when looking at water birds - they cut out the glare. The only thing that took a bit of getting used to was the varifocal bit when using my scope but that's sorted now with practice. I certainly don't find that even on the days when the UV index has been high there is any problem with colours. The specs were considerably more expensive than my previous straightforward varifocals but I am pleased with them even though I feel a little self-concsious in my "Roy Orbison" shades in the middle of winter
I have a pair of sunglasses with prescription lenses in - I find them useless for birding as they change the colours too much - unfortunately in 'glarey' places like Africa and India I'm constantly swapping between them and my normal clear pair.
Hi all, Just picked up my first pair of the above, went out this afternoon, in not all that good light, and they where still changing colour. The UV index is only 1 today, so in good sunlight, I would need a white stick!!
This of course affects the colour of everything. Anyone here use them generally and when birding, and how do they go on?

P.S. Fortunately they are the same prescription as my "old" specs, so I can revert if necessary.
