Good News.
Todays Manchester Evening News indicates that the proposed plans for the moss by Salford will be rejected. Congratulations to all protesters and lets hope Cutacre goes the same way.

I have, as of tonight, uploaded details onto the county notice board on the website regarding this issue. I urge visitors to have a good look at the draft core strategy and hopefully develop an understanding of it's potential impact before making your own mind up and taking any action you see relevant.

Further correspondance or queries should be posted on this thread here so the right people can answer them.

I have written a letter to Spatial Planning at Salford CC objecting to the proposal to remove fields 49/50/55 from the Green Belt. If anyone would like to see it, please PM me with their email address (if I haven't got it).

The local MP has released her protest in the M.E. News tonight along with a petition on facebook. Things seem to be building up nicely.

Thats good news Judith, that you have these records is a big bonus. I have read the proposal regarding Chat moss and I must say it reads well from a biodiversity point of view with the council claiming to get everyone involved i.e. Defra, Natural England, nwda, LWT and the Greater Manchester Ecology Unit etc. etc. but then again they always do. They are also taking 10 hectares at Wharton lane in Little Hulton but designating 40 hectares green belt on the western side of Little Hulton. At this moment in time I think my main point of objection will be the increase of vechicular activity on the A57 between Irlam and Eccles which encompasses Barton of course. All proposals - Europort, Salford Reds, Waste Facility, City Airport all seem to put traffic on to the A57 but no plans to relieve it. One good point came out of the document, the plan for windmills on the moss has been rejected.

Because of the field numbering system on the map, we have good records for fields 49, 50 and 55, which are the relevant ones (thanks mainly to Dave Steel). I have contacted Barbara Keeley MP to inform her of the 1000s of records we hold on the database (around half a million now) and that we can provide very precise records to individual field level for suites of Red and Amber listed birds. So far, no ecological consultant has contacted me about this area. I'm not sure what the requirements are ecologically, that Salford CC must satisfy (if any) before removing land from Green Belt. GMEU will know that. There would certainly have to be an EIA before any planning application, which would be facilitated by the removal from Green Belt.

Its not Salford Council that are building the industrial estate,I would imagine it will be Peel Holdings, the same company that want to desecrate Frodsham Marsh by covering it in monstrous wind turbinesno.gif

Got a flyer thro' the door from local labour councillor stating that Salford council are proposing turn Barton moss (including golf course) into an industrial estate. I have sent it as an email to Ian and Judith (with cries for help) as i can't get it to post. All objections to be in by 15-1-2010. Iam hoping that Ian can post the contact details for me.
