If you get the chance Mike, watch it on bbc iplayer here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00pdjmk/b00pdh39/Horizon_20092010_How_Many_People_Can_Live_on_Planet_Earth/

drat, missed it.

I hope the talk was equally on limiting population growth in the US, where they all seem to have to have a car as soon as they're 16 and the endless running around in vehicles parents have to do. It would be interesting to compare the carbon footprint of a sub-Saharan African child with one from the US of A (or Canada, or France or UK or ........)

If you care about the long term future of wildlife in general and bird life in particular, (whether or not you accept that global warming results from human activity), tonight's Horizon programme on Beeb 2 may be of interest.

The subject is Attenborough on human population growth. I suggest it should be compulsory viewing for all the attendees at the Copenhagen Conference?
